Every Chapter of Keyboard Fundamentals: Book 1 begins with a listing of various musical topics for study. Each topic is examined through a melody or an arrangment of a familiar folk tune. Further reinforcement and understanding of these topics occur through the study of ensemble and solo repertoire, technical patterns, music for reading, and creative work involving harmonization and improvising. Throughout each chapter students complete short exercises in writing. These completion studies help the student grasp the essentials of musical notation.
